Tom studied law at the College of Law, London having previously read Geography at the University of Leeds. He qualified as a solicitor in 2008 at a city law firm and specialised in commercial dispute resolution.

In 2010 Tom spent two months working in Hong Kong in the Insurance and Claims department of a Hong Kong ship owner. Upon his return to London he sought to further his career in the shipping industry and joined Bentleys, Stokes and Lowless in October 2010.

Tom is a keen sportsman participating in squash, football, golf, and cricket. He also enjoys spending time in the mountains whether it is for skiing or cycling.
