Michael read Modern History at St. Anne's College, Oxford University. He then studied post graduate law at Oxford Brookes University and completed the legal practice course at BPP Law School, London.

Michael trained with a large city firm and whilst there, enjoyed a secondment to its Athens office where he gained shipping experience. On qualification he joined Bentleys in November 2009 and is involved in handling a broad range of dry shipping disputes.

Michael is interested in politics and following his undergraduate studies was awarded an internship with the United States Senate where he worked as a researcher for firstly Senator Joe Biden's office and then a Government Affairs Sub-Committee under Senator David Akaka.

His other interests include literature, clay pigeon shooting and classic cars.
