Ian joined Bentleys in July 2007 as a solicitor and his litigation practice encompasses a wide range of shipping matters, including P&I and defence work, marine insurance issues and MOA disputes. Ian particularly enjoys tackling technical issues having been involved in cases concerning dredging, crane breakdown, complex cargo claims and ship damage claims. On the non-contentious side, Ian has experience in the sale, purchase and registration of new and second-hand vessels and yachts.

Prior to joining Bentleys, Ian read law at the University of Southampton and has worked in the maritime industry since graduating in 2002. Ian worked as a Lloyd's Open Form salvage case manager at Lloyd's of London before qualifying as a solicitor at another London shipping law firm in March 2007.

Outside of work, Ian enjoys travelling, running marathons, mountain biking, playing tennis and football and is a big Everton fan.
