Geraint Powell obtained law degrees from the Universities of Manchester and Southampton. After placements with a leading South African shipping law firm and with an International Group P&I Club, he trained at a niche City of London shipping law firm before practising at a leading City of London shipping law firm for 8 years. Geraint joined Bentleys in November 2007, where his focus is on dispute resolution involving a wide variety of contracts of carriage, whether bills of lading and charterparties or complex logistics and liner service contracts. He deals with both the contractual consequences of maritime casualties including marine insurance and general average and more general "dry" shipping and international trade dispute resolution. Geraint has particular expertise in resolving complex liner consortia and other containerisation and multimodal transport disputes and is regularly instructed by leading liner operators and their insurers when disputes arise in relation to point to point FCL and logistics service contracts. He has presented numerous papers at international seminars and "in-house" for specific clients and is a member of the British Maritime Law Association. |
